A simple U-tube manometer containing mercury is connected to a pipe in which a fluid of specific gravity 0.8, under vacuum, is flowing; the other end is open to the atmosphere. The difference of mercury levels in the two limbs is 40 cm (the open limb being lower), and the fluid in the left limb stands 15 cm below the centre of the pipe. Find the vacuum pressure in the pipe (answer in kPa).
